Two members of an inter-district gang of robbers, Moharram Ali and Rashid Miah, have been arrested by the Sreemangal police. Both the accused are residents of the same village.
On Thursday (October 17) night, a team of Sreemangal police station, including police inspector and investigating officer of the case Sudipta Sekhar Bhattacharya, conducted a raid in Gulgaon and Durganagar villages under Sreemangal police station and arrested them.
According to police sources, the robbery took place in the living room of one Abdur Rashid of Laharpur Bihari Basti village under Sindurkhan union of Sreemangal police station at around 2: 00pm on August 31 this year. The members of the robber gang beat Abdur Rashid, his son and wife and seriously injured them and looted a total of around Tk 11,69,000 / -, including gold ornaments, cash and mobile phones. A case was filed with the police station in this regard.
Superintendent of Police S.R. Aminul Islam said: "Earlier, a robber named Chandu Mia was arrested in this case. In his confessional statement under section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Chandu Miah, who was arrested earlier, said the robbers were brought from Brahmanbaria district along with two others who were arrested yesterday.
