A tourist named Abu Saeed Shaheen (48) died when an autorickshaw overturned at a place called Magurchora on Kamalganj-Srimangal road in Moulvibazar. Another six people were seriously injured.

The incident took place on Monday (September 30) around 3 pm in Kamalganj upazila Kamalganj-Srimangal road at a place called Magurchhara in Lawachora National Park area. The deceased Abu Saeed Shaheen is the son of deceased Abdul Gafur of Maijdi village of Sudharam upazila of Noakhali district.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of tourists, including Abu Saeed Shaheen, who came from Dhaka to Lauachara in Kamalganj, contracted an autorickshaw to visit Madhavpur Lake in Kamalganj, Lawachora National Park, and Baikka Bill in Srimangal. On Sunday, he left a hotel in Srimangal to visit Madhavpur Lake in Kamalganj by autorickshaw. The autorickshaw overturned after braking failed while crossing the Magurchhara towing point in Lawachora Udyan. Meanwhile, Abu Saeed Shaheen, who was on the right side, was seriously injured. Later, the assistants quickly rescued him and took him to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Saeed’s ancestral home is in Maijdi village of Sudharam police station in Noakhali district.
Associate friend of deceased Abu Saeed Shaheen Abul Hayat said, We six friends from different districts of the country came together from different districts of the country and came to Srimangal in Moulvibazar on Sunday. I took a TomTom (autorickshaw) from the hotel to Kamalganj. Our car brake failed and overturned in an area called Magurchara. Then six of us, including the driver, fell from the car. Abu Saeed Shaheen was seriously injured. He died on the way to Moulvibazar with the help of locals.

He also said that the wife and family members of Abu Saeed Shaheen have left the country for the purpose of Moulvibazar. They will be taken to his country home when they get here. Also, we are treating 6 injured drivers in Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.

Newcomer OC of Kamalganj police station Syed Iftekhar Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said, “As soon as the news was received, the police were sent there. They came to visit Kamalganj. The accident took place in the Magurchara area on the way to Madhavpur Lake. It is said that important Abu Saeed Shaheen died on his way to Srimangal and later to Moulvibazar from there. The body of the deceased is in Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital. We are in contact with the family of the deceased.
