Sylhet, one of the country’s most earthquake-prone regions, experienced an earthquake at the very beginning of the year. The quake occurred on Friday (January 3) at 10:32 AM. However, no reports of damage have been received.
According to the Meteorological Department, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Sylhet on Friday morning, with its epicenter located in Myanmar.
Shah Md. Sajib Hossain, Assistant Meteorologist at the Sylhet Meteorological Office, stated that while the earthquake was felt in Sylhet and surrounding areas, no damage has been reported.
Although no harm was caused, the earthquake created panic among residents of multi-story buildings on this holiday morning.
