According to Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, the economic adviser, the administration is taking a tough stance against market manipulators.

In an interview with media following a meeting at the Agargaon, Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management (BIGM), he stated that the DCs have been instructed to act decisively against extortionists.

He emphasized that reducing extortion will lead to a decrease in the prices of essential goods.

Dr Ahmed also addressed concerns about the garment industry, noting that efforts are underway to stabilize the sector through discussions involving owners, workers, and political parties. He assured that the issue would be resolved swiftly.

On the subject of black money, Dr Ahmed highlighted that the absence of opportunities to legalize illicit funds will enable the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to more effectively catch financial embezzlers.

He assured that stringent measures against major offenders will become increasingly apparent.
