The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) reports that Shirhan Sharif Tamal, the son of former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, has been taken into custody with weapons and ammunition.

In a case about an assault on students participating in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, he was mentioned.

RAB said that Tamal was arrested on Thursday night from the Ishwardi area of Pabna.

During the arrest, authorities seized a foreign pistol, a magazine, four rounds of ammunition, 10 yaba tablets, and a private car from him.

The arrest was confirmed by ANM Imran Khan, senior assistant director of RAB’s Legal and Media Wing.

Tamal has faced multiple allegations in the past, including attacks on business establishments, vandalism of a freedom fighter’s home, and assault on journalists.

He has multiple cases filed against him during the Awami League government’s tenure.

Shirhan Sharif Tamal was removed from the Jubo League in December 2017 for violating party discipline and engaging in unlawful activities, following his imprisonment for attacking journalists.
