Professor Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser, thanked the Japanese atomic bomb survivors' organization, Nihon Hidankyo, on their 2024 Nobel Peace Prize award on Friday.

"Congratulations to Nihon Hidankyo on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2024," the Chief Adviser wrote in a congrats message.

"Your steadfast dedication to nuclear disarmament and peace is an inspiration to us all," he continued.

"Your advocacy and tireless efforts to ensure that the horrors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are never forgotten resonate deeply in our quest for a safer world," stated Prof. Yunus, who was also the 2006 Nobel Peace Laureate.

"Thank you for your courage and dedication. Warmest congratulations once again," the message read.

Nihon Hidankyo has won the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.

Awarding the prize at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo on Friday, Jørgen Watne Frydnes, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee said: “The group received the honor for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again."

Since its founding in 1956, Nihon Hidankyo has sent survivors all around the world to testify about the horrific agony and destruction brought about by the use of nuclear weapons.

Nearly ten years after the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they started their job.

The group of survivors of the atomic bomb has earned numerous nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize, including a special mention from the Norwegian Nobel Committee in 2005.
