Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser, has indicated that a free, fair, and participatory election will be held after required reforms to the government, judiciary, Election Commission, electoral system, and law and order.

Prof Yunus highlighted in his address to the nation, which was carried by BTV, BTV World, and BTV Chittagong, that the purpose of the election will be to develop an accountable democratic system that combats corruption, theft, and mass murdering.

He emphasized that in order to support democracy, local government institutions must be strengthened and power decentralization must be ensured.

Prof. Yunus also announced a gradual requirement for all government officials, stating that all interim government advisers will swiftly publish their wealth statements.

In order to fight corruption at the state level, an ordinance will also be passed to establish an ombudsman in compliance with Article 77 of the Constitution.
