Moulvibazar and Sylhet former minister-MP accused in the case

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student uprising, now the deposed ministers, members of parliament and other leaders and activists of Awami League are going to face trial.

At least 56 cases have been registered in Moulvibazar and Sylhet divisions on specific complaints.

The accused in these cases include Awami League president and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, party general secretary Obaidul Quader and almost all members of the outgoing cabinet.

Apart from mentioning the names of former ministers-MPs, important leaders of Awami League and its organizations and top professionals, a large number of leaders and activists have been made ‘unknown’ accused in various cases. In addition to the accusations of killing or genocide by attacking and firing at the student movement, attempted murder in the name of many,Cases have been filed under Money Laundering, Illegal Asset Acquisition and Explosives Act.

It has been found that former expatriate welfare minister Imran Ahmad and former education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, former agriculture minister Abdus Shahid, former environment minister Shahab Uddin, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel of Moulvibazar-2, former MP Neshar Ahmad, former MP Zillur Rahman, former MP Moazzem Hossain Ratan,Former Planning Minister MA Mannan, Muhibur Rahman Manik of Sunamganj-5, Ranjit Sarkar of Sunamganj-1, Abdul Majeed Khan and Moyezuddin Ruel of Habiganj-1, Abu Zahir of Habiganj-3, Tourism Minister Mahbub Ali, Habiganj-4. A case has been filed against Sayedul Haque Sumon.

However, there was no case against Jaya Sengupta of Sunamganj-2, Mohammad Sadiq of Sunamganj-4 and Kaya Chowdhury of Habiganj-2 of this Sylhet division.
