Migratory Birds Discussion at Hakaluki Haor

An awareness discussion meeting was held to prevent bird poaching titled ‘Bird Discussion’ in Juri, Moulvibazar.

 

On Friday (January 27), an awareness meeting was organized by Moulvibazar Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department, IUCN and Patharia Wildlife Conservation Team at Chatla Bill in Hakaluki Haor.

 

Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Officer Mirza Mehedi Sarwar presided over the discussion meeting organized by IUCN Program Assistant Mahi Wasim. Juri Upazila Parishad Chairman, valiant freedom fighter MA Moeed Farooq was present as the chief guest.

 

Juri Range Assistant Forest Conservator Sheikh Abul Kalam Azad, IUCN Program Assistant Samir Saha, Upazila Press Club President Sirajul Islam, former President Manjur Alam Lal, Patharia Wildlife Conservation Team President Kamrul Hasan Noman, member Khorshed Alam and social worker Habibur Rahman spoke as special guests.

 

Patharia wildlife conservation team members Sabbir Khan, Abid Hossain, Khaledur Rahman, Adnan Chowdhury and Mahmud Uddin were present on the occasion.

 

The speaker said, “Once upon a time there were a lot of birds in Hakaluki Hawar. The number of birds has decreased day by day. Birds come to our country after traveling a long distance. If they are killed then birds will stop coming to our country. To preserve the beauty of Hakaluki, bird hunting must be stopped. If there are more birds, more tourists will come to Hakaluki, which will improve the socio-economic development of the people in the area. Everyone should build resistance locally to prevent bird poaching.”
