Currently, the general age limit for entering government jobs is 30 years. However, for the children of freedom fighters, the maximum age limit for applications is 32 years.

A group of job seekers has been advocating for an increase in the age limit to 35 years. Following a change in the political landscape due to student and public movements, they have held several demonstrations. Recently, several hundred job seekers gathered at Shahbag and eventually staged a sit-in in front of the Chief Advisor’s residence, Jamuna.

During this protest, police used tear gas shells and sound grenades to disperse them, but the job seekers continued to demand their rights.

In response to this incident, the government formed a committee on September 30 to review the demands.

The committee’s mandate was to examine and review the demands for increasing the age limit for job applicants and submit recommendations.

They were asked to provide advice within seven days, with the Ministry of Public Administration offering secretarial support to the committee.
