Maharaslila, the biggest religious and traditional festival of the indigenous Manipuri community of Greater Sylhet, is going to be held next Friday (November 15). Preparations for the celebration of Maharaslila are underway in the Manipuri-dominated areas of Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar with the sound of drums, shells and conch shells.
Raslila is the main religious festival of the Manipuri community. The colors of the Ras festival are now blooming in the Manipuri-dominated villages of Madhabpur and Adampur of the upazila. The painting work is going on in the temple. All are welcome to join in the festivities. On Friday afternoon, a shepherd dance will be held at the open stage premises of Madhavpur's Shibbazar. Maharaslila is the main soul of Raas in Joda Mandap at night. That is why the training of dance is going on in the backyard of the Manipuri neighborhood. The instructor shows the dance moves. There's a dance going on somewhere. There's a dance somewhere. The children of Manipuri neighborhood are busy in presenting dance in a perfect way.
Manipuri Maharaslila Seva Sangha is organizing the 182nd Raas Festival at Madhabpur Joda Mandap. On the other hand, the Manipuri Meitei community is organizing a separate Rasmela at Adampur in Kamalganj. This time
This will be their 42nd festival. The mandaps of Madhabpur and Adampur have been decorated with white paper designs. Lighting has also been provided. Along with the people of Manipuri community, thousands of people of other ethnicities and religions will also join the celebration. People of Manipuri community from different parts of the country as well as from India come to enjoy the festival in Kamalganj.
Shyam Singh, general secretary of Manipuri Maharaslila Seva Sangha, said that this time the Maharaslila ceremony will start at 11: 00 pm at the Madhavpur Joda Mandap. The programme will continue till the next day. On the same day, Maharaslila will be held at Manipuri Cultural Complex in Adampur union of the upazila. All preparations have been taken for the celebration of the festival.
