BNP's National Executive Committee member M Nasser Rahman has stood by the child who was a victim of rape in Barlekha, Moulvibazar.
On Monday night, he took responsibility for the child's care. Along with this, a delegation was sent to provide assistance, including a financial contribution of 20,000 BDT for the victim's treatment.
The delegation included Moulvibazar Government College Chhatra Dal Convener Jony Ahmed, Chhatra Dal leaders Akhlaqur Rahman Jaber, Jamil Ahmed Tanvir, and Jubed Hossain.
It has been reported that Nasser Rahman has assured full support for the three-and-a-half-year-old child's treatment and other necessary assistance. He has also committed to covering the legal expenses of the case.
Notably, on March 3rd, the child was raped while visiting Khadija Variety Store in Gaziteka Ailapur, Barlekha Municipality, to buy chocolate. The victim is suffering from thalassemia. The injured child was initially admitted to the One-Stop Crisis Center at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Currently, the child is undergoing treatment at Sylhet Modern Hospital.
Following a case filed by the victim's mother, the police have arrested 17-year-old Redwan Islam Arif, who is accused in the incident. He is the son of Nazrul Islam, the owner of the same store.
Barlekha police station's OC Abul Kashem Sarkar stated that on March 4, the accused minor was sent to a juvenile correctional center through the court.
