Nurul Islam, 42, former general secretary of Sagarnal union Jubo League and upazila Jubo League leader, was detained by the BGB on Monday night. The members of BGB-52 Battalion of Daktila BOP detained him on the basis of secret information. A 10-piece yaba tablet, two mobile phones, Tk 5,050 in Bangladeshi currency and a motorcycle were recovered from his pocket. The deceased is Mofazzel Hossain, son of Abdul Jabbar of the village. A case was filed with the police station on Tuesday in this connection.
According to BGB sources, on the basis of specific intelligence on Monday, a special patrol team from Daktila BOP, based on the information about the possibility of smuggling a large amount of narcotics through the border pillar 1828 / MP of the Daktila BOP near the border of Juri upazila, quickly reached the place named East-Botuli. At around 11: 30pm, following a group of drug traders involved in drug smuggling in East-Batuli, 500 yards inside Bangladesh from the zero line of the border, and while handing over the drugs, they were able to arrest Jubo League leader Nurul Islam from that place with a motorcycle. Sensing the presence of the BGB, the other two smugglers fled into the forest. A search of the accused’s pocket led to the recovery of 10 pieces of Yaba tablets, two mobile phones and Tk 5,050 in Bangladeshi cash.
It is learned that the arrested drug smuggler Jubo League leader Md Nurul Islam is accused of smuggling cows in the border area, cutting the fence of the star and smuggling drugs. Under the political shadow of the previous government, they dominated the area and operated smuggling. The July-August movement was against the students. After August 5, there was an attempt to infiltrate into India through the border area through Dhaka. For this reason, Jubo League leader Nurul Yaba was trying to collect money secretly through business.
BGB-52 Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Md. Mehedi Hasan PPM said that the person who was detained with drugs from the border was handed over to the police on Tuesday. A case was filed with the police station in this regard.
Juri police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Morshedul Alam Bhuiyan said: “BGB detained a man named Nurul Islam at the border and handed him over to police. He was arrested on Tuesday and sent to judicial custody.
