‘The money to improve the quality of life of tea workers is in the UP chairman’s pocket!’ Kalbela’s Moulvibazar correspondent Omar Faruk Naim was abused and threatened by calling him on his mobile phone for publishing the news in the headline. He filed a general diary of the incident at Moulvibazar Model Police Station.

He filed a General Diary at Moulvibazar Model Police Station on Thursday (July 11) afternoon.

According to GD sources, on July 09, I called Akhter Uddin, the current chairman of No. 07 Chandnighat UP, and published a news in daily Kalbela newspaper about the information about the tea workers’ living standard improvement program. After publishing the news, Chairman Akhtar Uddin made a post on his personal Facebook ID about publishing the news with Naeem’s name and personal mobile number without Naeem’s permission. In continuation of this, on the afternoon of July 10, journalist Naeem’s mobile number 01706-624632 was called by an unknown person from mobile numbers 01831-524641 and 01620-772185, and threatened to take him away.

In this regard, Omer Faruk Naim said, I made the news on the basis of specific information to fulfill my professional duties. But the chairman of that union posted my name and mobile number on his Facebook without my permission. It is a cyber crime. He has a speech in the news. He could protest in the newspaper if he wanted. But he has no right to obstruct my professional work and insult me. Currently, I and my family are in fear of harm due to threats from unknown persons.

Police Superintendent of Moulvibazar Manzur Rahman said, I know the matter. We are taking action. He has GD and talked to him. Police are working on it.
