"Beyond the border of the Manu River in Moulvibazar, it originates in the south in Dhlai district of Tripura state of India and flows in a northerly direction and joins a new district of Unkoti district of Tripura state with multiple streams and tributaries. Then on the northward path it enters the Sharifpur union of Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar along its side of Kailashahar.
In order to unilaterally control the waters of the Manu river in Tripura state, the Nalkata dam has been constructed in the area between Kanchanbari and Nalkata at Nalkata in Tripura. Pipe cutting projects like Manu Project (Switch Gate) in Matarkapan area of Moulvibazar. There is a risk of flooding in Moulvibazar only when the switch gate of the project is opened when there is heavy rain.
