A proposal has been made to extend the government holidays to five days for the Eid-ul-Azha and Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Additionally, a two-day holiday has been proposed for the Sharodiyo Durga Puja.
Currently, the Eid holidays are three days long, but in some years, this had been extended through executive orders.
This year, the government also extended the holiday by one day for the Durga Puja through an executive order.
Government sources indicate that this proposal from the Ministry of Public Administration may be presented at the Advisory Council meeting on Thursday for approval of the list of government holidays for 2025.
The proposal suggests setting the holidays for both Eid celebrations at five days and for Durga Puja at two days.
Moreover, it is reported that a decision may be made regarding increasing the maximum age limit for entering government jobs in Thursday's Advisory Council meeting.
A review committee has already recommended setting the maximum age limit for men at 35 years and for women at 37 years for government employment.
However, the committee did not mention anything regarding the retirement age.
