Under the initiative of Akbet Sylhet, a UK-based humanitarian organization for education, health and social development, a free post-flood medical camp was held in Moulvibazar.
The day-long free medical camp was formally inaugurated by Dr Sadiq Ahmed, Moulvibazar district president of Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan), district representative of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) and president of Moulvibazar branch of GSC UK, as the chief guest at Uluail Alim Madrasa in Ekatuna union of Moulvibazar sadar upazila on Monday, November 11.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, chairperson's adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, organising secretary Abdus Salam Azad and ex-Dhaka City unit BNP members secretary Abdus Salam were, among others, present at the meeting. In the free medical camp, hundreds of needy people of flood-affected Uluail, Lalapur and Mahtabpur areas were given free medicines after treatment.
Among others, the ceremony Senior Superintendent of Police Rahul Malik, Additional District Development Commissioner Afsar Ali Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, District Panchayat Officer, and District Information Officer besides former legislators Ghulam Rasool Naz, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat and Usman Majid, Chairman of Municipal Committees Bandipora, Sumbal and Hajin, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanches, civil society members were present in the event.
Earlier, Akbet distributed food items among the flood-affected people in Monumukh area of Moulvibazar sadar upazila and Kadamhata area of Rajnagar upazila.
