Ataur Rahman (46), the younger brother of former Moulvibazar Rajnag 3 Constituency Member of Parliament Md. Zillur Rahman, has been arrested by RAB-9 on charges of violence and vandalism in the anti-discrimination student protest.

He was arrested in a raid at Sreemangal railway crossing around 1: 30pm on Friday (October 11).

The deceased is Mofazzel Hossain, son of Abdul Jabbar of the village.

Abdulah Al Noman, company commander of Moulvibazar RAB-9 Sreemangal, confirmed the matter.

On the night of October 10, Ataur Rahman’s warehouse was found to have 231 bags of sugar illegally brought from India. A case was filed against him under the Special Powers Act.
