A father has been killed at the hands of his own children in Moulvibazar. The incident occurred on Saturday at 7:30 PM in the Shamerkona (Baghorgor) area of Chandnighat Union in Sadar Upazila. Police sources report that Muslim Miah (54), son of the late Saad Miah of the village, was killed due to a family dispute with his son and daughter.

Police further stated that the deceased Muslim Miah often quarreled with his wife, which angered his children. Following such an incident, at 7:30 PM, his daughter Jannatul Ferdous Munni and son Munna Miah allegedly struck him on the head, legs, and back with an iron rod. When he collapsed, locals rushed him to the 250-bed Moulvibazar General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was transferred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way.

Following the incident, the deceased’s brother filed a case at Moulvibazar Sadar Model Police Station on the same night, naming the deceased’s wife Sabina Begum alias Sukera Khatun, daughter Jannatul Ferdous Munni, and son Munna Miah as accused. The investigating officer of the case, Pabitra Shekhar Das, stated that the daughter, Jannatul Ferdous Munni, has been arrested in connection with the incident.
