ChhatraShibir Submits Memorandum with 15 Proposal at Rajnagar Government College

Islami Chhatra Shibir has submitted a memorandum at Rajnagar Government College in Moulvibazar, outlining a 15-point proposal in light of the aspirations of the July Uprising and calling for its implementation. On Thursday (February 27) afternoon, the memorandum was handed over to the acting principal of the college, Tamanna Begum, by Abdullah Al Apon, President of the Rajnagar Government College unit of Chhatra Shibir, and Jiban Ahmad, Secretary of the unit.

The memorandum paid tribute to the martyrs, injured, and disabled student activists of the July Uprising, stating that the sacrifices and martyrdom of countless students and citizens have created opportunities that should be utilized in accordance with the aspirations of the martyrs and the spirit of the July Uprising. It emphasized the need for effective measures to build a new, discrimination-free, and healthy campus in a fascism-free Bangladesh.

To achieve this vision, Chhatra Shibir’s Rajnagar Government College unit presented 15 proposals for the establishment of a new anti-fascist campus:

1. Establishing a July Memorial Corner on campus.

2. Holding student union elections as soon as possible.

3. Activating the B.N.C.C (Bangladesh National Cadet Corps) at the college.

4. Creating an official college website and publishing results online.

5. Modernizing all administrative activities (such as applications, fee payments, certificates, mark sheets, and document retrieval) by shifting them online to reduce administrative complexities and student hardships.

6. Bringing the entire campus under CCTV surveillance.

7. Legally prohibiting smoking on campus.

8. Appointing permanent teachers for each subject.

9. Establishing separate prayer and ablution facilities for female students.

10. Renovating the college mosque as necessary.

11. Repairing washrooms in the old buildings.

12. Organizing at least two educational seminars annually, inviting esteemed scholars and intellectuals to conduct various sessions.

13. Providing annual scholarships from the college administration to meritorious students.

14. Establishing a debate club to foster students’ creativity.

15. Modernizing the college library, increasing the number of books, and setting up a well-equipped reading room for students to borrow and read books.

The memorandum further stated that implementing these proposals would revamp the campus in line with the aspirations of the martyrs and veterans of the July Uprising, a belief firmly held by Islami Chhatra Shibir. The organization urged the acting principal to consider students’ expectations and take prompt initiatives to implement the proposed measures.
