A case has been filed against 155 Awami League leaders and activists, including former MPs, in connection with the obstruction and attack on the anti-discrimination student movement program in Moulvibazar. Another 200 people have been kept as unidentified in the case.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (August 15) afternoon. Abdul Qadir Talukder, District Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, filed this case as a plaintiff at Moulvibazar Model Police Station last night.
District Awami League President former MP Neshar Ahmad, MP Zillur Rahman, Mayor Fazlur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Chairman Kamal Hossain, Zilla Parishad Chairman Michbahur Rahman, District Jubo League President, Rezaur Rahman Sumon, Councilor Jalal Ahmad, District Awami League have been accused in the case. Organizing Secretary Advocate Radhapad Deb Sajal, Jubo League General Secretary Syed Salim Haque, Sheikh Rumel Ahmed, Ekatuna UP Chairman Abu Sufian, Mansurnagar UP Chairman Milan Bakhat, former District Chhatra League President Amirul Islam Chowdhury Amin, Gauch Uddin Nixon and 155 people including Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League. And volunteers at various levels of leaders and activists.
In the statement of the case, it is mentioned that the accused attacked the peacefully protesting students and crowd in Chaumohna, Court Road, Central Road, Shamshernagar Road and Chandnighat area of Moulvibazar at around 12:30 pm on Sunday, August 4. Many were injured when the students clashed with them.
Coordinator Abdul Qadir Talukder said that as part of the central program, ordinary students took out a peaceful procession at the district headquarters on August 4. At that time, the leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League stopped them on the instructions of the former MP. The students were beaten by a one-stage attack and dispersed everyone.
He said that last night, a case was filed against 155 Awami League leaders and activists involved in the attack, including former MP Zillur Rahman, district Awami League president and former MP Neshar Ahmad. At this time, 200 more people were kept as unidentified in the case.
Moulvibazar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Nazrul Islam confirmed the case and said that the police operation to arrest the accused is continuing.
