Barrister Adib Chowdhury, daughter of former state minister Advocate Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury, is running for BNP nomination in the Moulvibazar-1 (Barlekha and Juri) constituency. He voiced his hope during a news conference with media in Barlekha on Sunday afternoon.
Addressing a views-exchange meeting presided over by district BNP leader Mujibur Raza Chowdhury, Barrister Adib Chowdhury said politics is service to the people. And you need to qualify for this service. He did not want to be active in politics under the identity of his father BNP leader and former state minister Advocate Ebadur Rahman Chowdhury. He was always involved in his father’s political activities. He is active in politics with the ability to give something to the people. In the last 15/16 years, the autocratic Hasina government did not allow politics in the country, did not give a chance to practice democracy. He became active in politics on the call of new president Tarique Rahman to build a new Bangladesh. Replying to a question from reporters, he said when former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia came to Barlekha in 2006, he welcomed her with flowers. Since then, he has met the BJP president several times. Replying to another question, he said former education secretary Haider Ali became the adviser of the BNP chairperson directly without holding the post of BNP. He belongs to the BJP family. Even if Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and BNP are not in office, they can seek party nomination. He wants to work for the development of his constituency.
BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, chairperson’s adviser Abdul Awal Mintoo, organizing secretary Abdus Salam Azad, and former BNP members secretary Abdus Salam from the Dhaka City unit were among those in attendance.
