Bangladesh Khasi People, a Facebook messenger group of tribal Khasias distributed relief to various flood affected areas of Islampur Union of Kamalganj, Moulvibazar. Today, Wednesday (August 28) from 11 am, a volunteer team of 15 members of this group distributed food items including rice, dal, soybean oil, salt, food saline, various emergency medicines in each packet to the flood-affected people throughout the day.
These relief materials were delivered to 100 flood-affected families of Kurma Ghat Basti, Sreepur and Kurunji area of ​​Tea Bagan in Byapi Union throughout the day.
Incessant rains have caused severe flooding in some upazilas of Moulvibazar along with some districts of Bangladesh. Today, in the first phase, Bangladesh Khasi People distributed relief items to flood-affected families in Kamalganj. In the second phase of this program, food aid will be distributed in Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila and Rajnagar, said Phila Patmi, the chief coordinator of the group.
Lencher Tongper, a volunteer of the organization, said that at the earliest, the student volunteers of our group go around to different funds and collect voluntary donations. I have tried to stand by the flood affected people by collecting donations from relatives, friends and acquaintances. In Bangladesh Khasi People’s Messenger Group, we informed everyone about our activities by adding Khasi community youth, senior youth and students, and working people from different Khasia capitals.
Many who have joined there have contributed financially to our fundraising. Due to which we will be able to help 200 affected families in just a few days. Today only 100 families of Kamalganj have been distributed food aid. We appeal to all sections of Khasi society to participate and cooperate in this noble cause.

Islampur UP member Charles Sung, UP member Sabujur Rahman Sabuj, Rupak Dash, media worker Saju Marchiang, Shankar Sinha, Clinton Pasna etc. participated in the relief-aid activities.
