The house of Advocate Mustak Ahmad, the general secretary of the Jubo League of Kanakpur Union Jubo League of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila, was attacked and vandalized. During this, BNP and Jamaat workers looted his house and took away his belongings.
Wednesday (August 7), the house of Advocate Mustak Ahmad was attacked and vandalized in Noldaria village of Kanakpur Union No. 8 of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila. Later, the attackers fled when the locals came forward.
According to local sources, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government, the houses of Awami League and Jubo League leaders and activists in Moulvibazar were vandalized. Due to this, BNP and Jamaat-Shibir leaders and activists also attacked the house of Advocate Mustak Ahmad, the general secretary of the Jubo League of the Kanakpur Union in Moulvibazar. They also looted the belongings of Mustak Ahmad's house during the attack.
Mustak Ahmad's mother Fatema Begum, said, "My son lives abroad. This attack happened while I was in my village house. The terrorists armed with local weapons attacked with the intention of killing my son. The family members started shouting out of fear of the terrorists.
When my family and I stopped them and asked why, they said, "Your son Mustak was a leader of the Jubo League, so we attacked." The terrorists, unable to find my son, broke the doors and windows of the house, looted and ransacked. This caused damage of more than three lakh taka and the terrorists demanded a ransom of two lakh taka. When the local people came forward, the terrorists left. If my son comes back to the country, they will not let him live. At this stage, my family went to the police station and took refuge in the police, but it did not help."
Noldaria Jame Mosque Imam Abdur Rahim said, "Mustak Ahmed's house is in front of my mosque." That afternoon, leaders and activists of his opposition political party attacked his house. Later, when we local residents gathered, the terrorists fled. But by now, everything in his house had been vandalized.
Superintendent of Police Md. Manjur Rahman PPM (Bar) said, after the 5th, our police were not at the police station for four to five days. Taking this opportunity, some people set fire to, vandalized and attacked the houses of expatriates. We have received complaints. Our operation to arrest the attackers is ongoing. No one will be spared.
