Army relief distribution and medical camp in Kulaura

Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari, GOC of the Bangladesh Army’s 17th Infantry Division, said that with the help of the army, administration, student coordinators, and volunteers, about 9,000 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas. Of these, 2,000 people have gone to shelters, and the remaining 7,000 have gone to their relatives’ homes. Since the beginning of the flood, the army has been working alongside the flood victims.

He also said, We know that the expatriates of this region are coming forward to help the affected people. The administration will work to ensure that their assistance reaches the doorsteps of the affected people. The water in the river Manu has started to recede. After that, construction materials will come under government initiative to repair the houses of the affected people. The army will ensure that the local people’s representatives as well as the real victims get them.

He said these things after the medical camp and distribution of relief materials organised by the army at Tilagaon Union of Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar on Saturday (August 24) afternoon.

Major General Chowdhury Mohammad Azizul Haque Hazari said that the relief material was distributed as part of the army soldiers’ food. Besides, 500 packets of relief were distributed on my own initiative. Army medical teams are working around the clock in flood-affected areas. He called upon everyone, including expatriates, to stand by the flood victims from their respective positions.

Brigadier General Humayun Kabir of Sylhet Cantonment, Lieutenant Colonel Sazzadul Ahsan, Major Riad, Captain Adnan, Kulaura Upazila Executive Officer were with him during the distribution of relief materials. Mohiuddin, Additional Superintendent of Police (Kulaura Circle) Dipankar Ghosh, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shah Zahurul Hossain, and Officer-in-Charge of Kulaura Police Station. Ali Mahmood, UP Chairman Abdul Malik, etc.
