A Hindu family set fire to the temple of their house with straw to trap a freedom fighter due to previous enmity. Later, the freedom fighter started to spread the message through social media and burnt their temple.
The incident took place at Binodpur village of East Juri Union of Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar on Thursday (August 22) at six o’clock in the evening. A case has been filed at Juri police station after the investigation of the army and the police revealed the truth. As of this writing, two people involved in the incident have been arrested by the police with the help of the army.
According to the statement of the case, Haji Ala Uddin, a brave freedom fighter of Binodpur village, was taken away from his house on Thursday evening by his neighbors Asit Kumar due to previous enmity. Asit’s family members took it to Asit’s house and tied it to a chair and set fire to the family temple in the courtyard of the house. Later it was propagated for the purpose of religious incitement that the freedom fighter Ala Uddin had vandalized the temple and set it on fire.
On receiving the news, the army team led by Warrant Officer Chayem Ahmed, who was on army patrol, and the police reached the spot and rescued the freedom fighter Ala Uddin and found out the real truth during the interrogation.
On Friday afternoon, freedom fighter Ala Uddin filed a case at Juri police station mentioning the names of 18 people involved in the incident. In the evening, the police arrested Asit Rudra Pal (40) and Nadeem Ahmed (19), the owner of the accused house.

Mehdi Hasan said on Friday evening that considering the current times, the accused have committed a sensitive crime like burning the temple with the aim of religious incitement and to frame the opponent. An operation is underway to arrest all the accused involved in the incident.
