Police have arrested Anisul Islam Chowdhury Tushar (33), a top terrorist of Moulvibazar city and former leader of the banned organization Chhatra League, in connection with the anti-discrimination student movement cases in Moulvibazar. He faces at least five cases related to the terrorist attacks on the anti-discrimination student movement.
He was arrested from his residence in Barhat of the city around 10 PM on Sunday (April 13th).
Anisul Islam Chowdhury Tushar is the eldest son of the late Atiqul Islam, former ward councilor of Borhat area.
It is known that Anisul Islam Tushar, the prime accused in the Shabab-Mahi murder case involving Chhatra League activists and a figure of terror in Moulvibazar, was known as a top terrorist in the city during the Awami League’s tenure. He is accused of firing shots during the anti-discrimination student movement. Most recently, he was a candidate for the General Secretary post of the district unit of the Swechasebak League.
The dominance of the Tushar group is said to be behind various political conflicts in Moulvibazar. Tushar’s group attacked the anti-discrimination student movement on July 18th. Most recently, his name surfaced in connection with the firing on students and the public during a student movement in Choumuhana of Moulvibazar city on August 4th.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Moulvibazar Model Police Station, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, confirmed the matter and stated that there are multiple cases related to the anti-discrimination student movement against him at Moulvibazar Model Police Station, and he was arrested from his residence at 10 PM and is currently detained at the police station.
