M Nasser Rahman, a member of the BNP’s National Executive Committee and former MP for the Moulvibazar Sadar-Rajnagar constituency, said, “Indian online newspapers are publishing reports claiming that Hindus are being attacked in Bangladesh. However, from the banks of the Kushiyara River in Rajnagar to Kamarchak in the south, thousands of Hindu families are living peacefully. Has there been any attack on the homes of our Hindu brothers or any assault on temples in these areas?”
He emphasized that BNP leaders, activists, and citizens must stand against the propaganda being spread by Indian media. He urged party members at all levels to counter these falsehoods on social media. He made these remarks Friday evening at a workers’ conference organized by Rajnagar Upazila BNP on the grounds of Rajnagar Government College.
He added, “Hindu brothers in Bangladesh are living peacefully. Despite this, Indian media continues to spread propaganda. Our Hindu brothers need to speak out against these falsehoods because even if we, as Muslims, refute these claims, they may not be believed. However, if our Hindu brothers confirm that no attacks or assaults have occurred on their homes or temples and that these are all lies, others will believe it. Such lies are being propagated against us and our country by Indian media, and fallen Hasina and her associates are complicit in this smear campaign.”
The workers’ conference was presided over by District BNP Convener Advocate Faizul Karim Mayun. The keynote speaker was Mizanur Rahman Mizan, former General Secretary of District BNP. The program was conducted by District BNP Convener Committee member Abul Kalam Belal.
Other speakers included expatriate BNP leader and National Executive Committee member Faisal Ahmed Chowdhury, District BNP Convener Committee members Advocate Abed Raja, Moazzem Hossain Matuk, MA Mukit, Mohammed Helu Mia, Ashik Morsharraf, Fakhrul Islam, Bakshi Misbahur Rahman, Matin Box, Mohammad Abdur Rahim Ripon, Manowar Ahmed Rahman, Anichuzzaman Bayez, Swagata Kishore Das Chowdhury, Mahmudur Rahman, Ashrafur Rahman Khan Nahaz, Durud Ahmed, and UK Volunteer Wing leader Ziaur Rahman Zia, among others.
M Naser Rahman also warned, “We must be cautious of BNP leaders who align themselves with the seven-month MP and chant slogans like ‘Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.’ A BNP leader cannot sit with such individuals and then continue with the party. Such people should not be included in any level of the committee.”
Addressing development in the area, he stated, “You don’t need to be an MP to ensure development. During the past Awami League government’s tenure, there was hardly any development in Rajnagar. It was M Saifur Rahman and I who brought development to the region. The Rajnagar-Balaganj road is in a state of disrepair. Although a proposal was sent to repair the road, it was canceled. I spoke with the communications advisor and successfully passed projects for the Rajnagar-Balaganj road, along with two other roads, including Moulvibazar-Fenchuganj.”
