Hasina Akhter Doli, a woman UP member, has been accused of embezzling money in the guise of widow allowance in Kulaura. Dolly is a reserved member of the Sadar Union’s wards 1, 2, and 3.

It has been discovered that he has committed numerous irregularities and nepotism in the area’s allowance elections since becoming office. Many people have received various allowances in exchange for money, including widows and the elderly. Despite taking money from many people, he did not pay them. Even when distributing 10 pounds of food to the impoverished, he committed numerous irregularities. UP member Dolly came to the victims’ house and told that to collect the old widow allowance,

Abjun Begum, wife of Abul Hossain Khan of Sreepur village in the union, took Tk 1000 for widow allowance, Nazma Begum, wife of Jamal Mia, took Tk 1000 for widow allowance and Saju Begum, wife of Hossain Mia, took Tk 1000 for widow allowance. Although he promised to give the allowance card within two months, he did not give the allowance card to anyone and did not return the allowance money. Meanwhile, about 50 feet of road was bricked with government project money at the entrance to UP member Hasina Akhter Dolly’s house. There has been criticism over this issue.

Jubail Mia, son of victim Nazma Begum, told this reporter that about two years ago, I went to the house of a female member Dolly to give allowance to my mother, aunt Saju and neighbour Palash’s mother and gave her Tk 3,000 in good faith. But he said that he would pay the allowance within two months, but he has not received the allowance yet. If you don’t pay, I want your money back.

The accused UP member, Hasina Akhter Doley, said: “Some people, including local members, collected money from my ward and gave it to the chairman. But I didn’t take any money. Later, the chairman returned the money to about 9 families in Sreepur, Haripur, Daser Mahal. Those who have not yet paid will be reimbursed.
