Police have recovered the body of former additional secretary of the Ministry of Industries Salahuddin Mahmud from Balishira Resort in Sreemangal, Moulvibazar.

According to local and police sources, Salahuddin Mahmud came to Moulvibazar on an official visit on Wednesday. He was the former Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Industries. He is currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director General of SME Foundation under the Ministry of Industries.

On Wednesday, he attended some programs of the SME Foundation in Moulvibazar. After finishing the program at Moulvibazar, he went to sleep at Balishira Resort in Sreemangal at around 10pm. At 8 o’clock in the morning he went into his room. Later, police went to his room and recovered his body.

He was scheduled to attend a few more programmes of the SME Foundation in Sreemangal on Thursday, October 10.

Sreemangal police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Aminul Islam said: “We went to the resort in the morning and recovered the body. He died sometime between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.

He said his body has been kept in a freezing car at Sreemangal police station in the hope that his family from Dhaka will not return till now (7: 30pm). The family will actually hand over the body against their opinion.
