Robberies have been committed at Asha NGO and daring thefts at various business establishments in Moulvibazar town. The theft hasn’t stopped yet. Although the police have intensified patrolling, the gang of thieves is raiding some shops in the city every day and taking away cash and valuables. However, the police are yet to nab the thieves.

The audacious theft took place at Jisan Varieties Store and Bichmilah Electrical Engineering Workshop on Sreemangal Road in the city’s municipality area sometime between 3pm on Monday (October 8) and the early hours of Tuesday. The robbers took away cash, jewellery and other valuables from the house. However, due to lack of CCTV cameras, the thieves managed to escape.

Upon receiving the news, a police team from the Model Town police station rushed to the spot. However, the traders warned to shut down the business and go on a strike if the theft continues in this manner.

The Asha NGO in the city’s Kazirgao neighborhood was robbed earlier, while Subas’s laundry in front of the police station was the scene of an unexplained theft. Numerous cars, stores, and residences were also vandalized. But even after the theft was discovered, the authorities have remained silent.

Conscious circles assert that a string of thefts poses a threat to the city’s state of law and order.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Mahbubur Rahman of the Sadar police station stated: “The situation is under control. The police are at work. Soon, thieves will be apprehended.
