Following the death of a member of Bangladesh’s Jatyatabadi Sramik Dal Riyazul Talukdar during the anti-discrimination demonstration in the capital’s Jatrabari area, a complaint has been brought against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 134 other people.

The victim’s brother, Rubel Talukdar, filed the case with Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain’s court in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and directed Jatrabari police station to accept the complaint as a formal case.

The plaintiff’s lawyer, Zahirul Hasan Mukul, confirmed the matter.

Other notable defendants in the case include Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and others.

The complaint said that on August 4, during the anti-discrimination student movement, thousands of students and people were marching in support of the movement at the Chaar Rasta intersection in Jatrabari at around 5pm.

At that time, leaders and activists of all groups linked with the Awami League shot illegal guns at the audience randomly, following the orders of Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister at the time.

Riyazul Talukdar, the brother of the plaintiff, was shot and murdered during this incident.
