Delawar Hossain, Juri OC Md Mehedi Hasan returned to work at Juri police station in Moulvibazar district on Saturday afternoon.

On August 5 last Monday, on the news of Sheikh Hasina’s escape, angry people surrounded the police station in the afternoon.

At that time, BNP-Jamaat leaders and journalists restrained the angry crowd. Fearing an attack, the police left the police station and went into hiding. After that, ordinary people along with BNP-Jamaat leaders guarded the unguarded police station. Meanwhile, despite the instructions of the new IGP, the policemen of Juri police station except the OC did not return to the police station.The army has taken over the security of the police station complex from Thursday.

Sergeant Taher, the army officer in charge of the security of the Juri police station complex, said that the army took the firearms of the police station into custody on Tuesday night. The policemen were directed to join the police station by 4 pm on Thursday. But they did not return till night. As a result, the army took over the security of the unguarded police station at night.

Besides, the army is also patrolling other areas to maintain law and order situation.Police Station OC Md. Mehedi Hasan said, I am coming to work on Saturday afternoon after receiving instructions from higher authorities. However, no other policeman has returned to work so far.
