Locals arrested 5 people including two Rohingyas from Yuktakhand market of Goalbari Union of Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar.
On Sunday (September 8) morning, some local youth saw them and informed the union chairman. Later, with the help of locals, the chairman arrested them and brought them to the union council.
It is known that through a broker named Imran, they crossed the border with a contract of 8 thousand taka per person. But they did not pay any money to that broker. 2 Rohingyas entered India through Comilla border last Friday 06 September.
3 Bangladeshis entered India through Mathiranga of Khagrachari district last Wednesday 04 September. They were detained by Indian police in Agartala. The police later handed them over to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). BSF pushed them back to Bangladesh through the border river with Juri batons at night.
Khaled Masud, a local youth, said that the detainees entered Bangladesh through Lathitila border area. As their movements were suspicious, when they were detained and interrogated, they said that they went to India for work through brokers. Later the BSF pushed back into Bangladesh with their sticks across the border.
The two arrested Rohingyas are Mustafizur Rahman, son of Ali Akbar, and Asma Bibi, daughter of Aman Ullah, of Camp No. 18, Kutupalong.
The 3 Bangladeshis are – Abu Hanif Sarkar, son of Abdul Hakim Sardar, daughter of Nazrul Hawladar, daughter of Abu Hanif Sarkar and wife of Abu Hanif Sarkar, daughter of Nazrul Howladar of the same village, of Ajupara village of Terkhada Upazila, Khulna.
Juri Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan said, I heard that BGB has detained 5 people from the border. However, they have not yet been handed over to the police station. Necessary action will be taken against them if they come to the police station.
